FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS And Privacy Commitment
DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR A FULL YEAR EVEN IF I JOIN IN APRIL?
The membership year is from July to June. New members joining in the last few months of the membership year are offered a reduction in dues.
WHEN IS RENEWAL OF MEMBERSHIP DUE?
Membership dues must be paid by September 30th. Reminders are regularly emailed to members, and renewals can be registered at various meetings prior to the shut-off date. A great time to renew is at the June luncheon, or the September General Meeting.
I CANCELLED MY MEMBERSHIP IN NOTL NEWCOMERS A FEW YEARS AGO. CAN I REJOIN?
You may only rejoin if, since your membership lapsed, you have experienced a major life change such as retirement, divorce or bereavement.
DO I HAVE TO BELONG TO NOTL NEWCOMERS TO ATTEND MEETINGS AND PROGRAMS, OR PARTICIPATE IN INTEREST GROUPS?
You may attend a Newcomers program to see whether the Club is for you, but you must join if you wish to attend programs after that, and to participate in any Interest Group.
CAN I BRING A FRIEND WITH ME TO A MEETING OR INTEREST GROUP?
Members often bring a female house-guest or visitor with them to a single meeting or Interest Group meeting, but please check with the program organizer or interest group convener in advance.

NOTL Newcomers Club membership is restricted to women.
CAN I BRING MY HUSBAND/PARTNER TO NEWCOMERS' PROGRAMS?
Occasionally, Newcomers' events are open to husbands/partners, and this information is included in the event announcement. Similarly, some Interest Groups welcome couples - such as some bridge and dining groups. You can ask the group convener whether husbands/partners may participate.
WHAT IS NOTL NEWCOMERS POLICY ON THE WEARING OF SCENTED PRODUCTS?
We kindly request that all members adhere to our Scent Awareness Policy and refrain from wearing scented products when attending Newcomer activities and events. For some people the presence of a scent can cause a serious problem. Shortness of breath, nausea, headaches, dizziness and numbness are just some of the reactions caused by the chemicals in scented products. In some cases it can lead to hospitalization. Members who are sensitive to scent-based products are asked to tell the convener of any interest group they attend, so that she can inform the rest of the group.
Please note that the NOTL Community Centre has a Scent Aware policy.
WILL NEWCOMERS ADVERTISE OR PROMOTE EVENTS OR SERVICES TO ITS MEMBERS?
No. NOTL Newcomers does not promote or advertise anything that is not part of the Newcomers' programs. The Club uses membership information only to communicate Newcomers matters, and forbids its use for business or other solicitation purposes. Please see our privacy commitments for further information.

I DIDN'T RECEIVE THE NEWSLETTER THIS MONTH - WHAT HAPPENED?
The NOTL Newcomers News and Notes is currently published monthly. If you provided an email address the Newsletter should be delivered to your inbox. If you didn't receive it, check your 'spam/junk' folder in case your server automatically rerouted it. Make sure you have added notlnewcomers to your list of contacts. If you still don't see it, contact email@example.com and we'll find out what happened. Because News & Notes is send via mass email, some computer's firewalls will not admit it - or you may get a security warning. We are careful to send only safe messages.
If you receive your Newsletter in print form by hand-delivery and haven't received your copy, please contact a member of the Executive.
Sometimes, people have mistakenly 'unsubscribed' to the newsletter, and it can be difficult to reinstate when this happens.
However, almost everything that goes out to the membership in News and Notes can be found on our website. Our Upcoming Events section will keep you informed about membership activities.
CAN NON-MEMBERS SUBSCRIBE TO THE NEWSLETTER?
No - the Newsletter is a benefit of membership and is not circulated beyond Club members.
WHERE CAN I LEARN MORE ABOUT LIFE IN NOTL?
There's a lot to find out about life in NOTL, whether you want to know what's on and get involved in the local social life, or whether you need practical information about services like health and the local municipality.
