WELCOMING WOMEN TO BEAUTIFUL NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE

Presidents Message – October 2025

Happy Fall!

What spectacular weather we have been having – ushering in our beautiful fall colours .

NOTL Newcomers is back in full swing – we had our Welcome Back meeting a few weeks ago and 80 members attended to sign up for new groups and activities. We had the pleasure of hearing from Tim Carroll, Artistic Director at the Shaw Festival. He updated us on the many initiatives underway at the Shaw and what the next few years will look like.  A wonderful presentation, enjoyed by all!

Thank you to the members who renewed your membership online – we now have online payment by credit card or debit card – we hope that will make membership renewal a breeze next year. (It is very labour intensive and time consuming having 3 board members manually renewing memberships at the Welcome Back meeting. Next year, we will aim to have most renewals completed online, in July, so we can budget accurately).

Our Program Directors have been busy organizing fun events for us this fall.

Who doesn’t love a good charcuterie board or cheese board? Learn the secrets of the perfect accoutrements. Or, how about learning how Greaves jams are made, right here in NOTL?  Check them out on our website and sign up at notlnewcomers.com.

There have been some changes to a few of our groups. Please read the update from our Group Director.

We have lots of new members and more join throughout the year. In the spirit of what Newcomers is about, welcoming women to NOTL and making them feel comfortable and included, I encourage you to introduce yourselves to new people at events, make room for them at your table,  ask them to join your table at Coffee and Conversations or at group lunches. Let’s make everyone feel welcome to our beautiful town.

We have so much to be Thankful for here in beautiful NOTL – Happy Thanksgiving!

Yours in friendship,
Megan Wood
President
NOTL Newcomers

The NOTL Newcomers Club is a Social Club for women who live in the Ontario municipality of Niagara-on-the-Lake, which includes Old Town, Glendale, Queenston, St. Davids and Virgil.

Membership is open to women who have recently moved to Niagara-on-the-Lake (NOTL) and to women residents who have undergone a major change in their lives, such as retirement, divorce, loss of a loved one or other life changes that have them wanting to become more involved in local life.

Our goal is to welcome women and to help them meet one another and discover everything our unique town and region has to offer residents.

We are a social club – we encourage our members to join a new interest group, participate in a new activity, or come to Coffee and Conversation and meet some new friends.
