WELCOMING WOMEN TO BEAUTIFUL NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE

President’s Message- April, 2025

“April Showers bring May Flowers” – perhaps to other areas of Ontario but here, in beautiful NOTL, I see snow crocuses and my daffodils and Hyacinth’s are poking through. The gardens are waking up and the Robins are back!

Spring is such a lovely time of year, reminding us of renewal and new life- it brings hope – after the dark, cold days of winter – the flowers, the birds and the sun always come back.

The Newcomer's club is no different – Spring is our time to find new Board members who are interested in joining the Executive. We are very fortunate to have filled almost all roles with members who love the idea of the Newcomers Club, who benefit by it and want to see us thrive.

We are looking to fill a few positions:  a website associate to work with Karin, someone who has leadership potential and would like to be the VP and someone who would be able to take minutes at our monthly meetings – the Secretary.

Let’s grow our NOTL Newcomers Association together – please join us. Let any Board member know your interest.

In March, we hosted a well attended museum presentation with David Hemmings presenting on the British Home Children - A Fascinating history of this area.

April brings a tour of the Apple Hill Apothecary on the 16th and May 21 is our AGM, with comedian Kate Hingston as our guest speaker. We are still working on the McFarland house tour/high tea for May. June has two outings – The Grimo Nut Nursery June 3 and the Niagara Falls History Museum with a tour of “It’s My Party” - Fashion from the 50’s, on June 11.

Have a look at our website and sign up.

Our Year End Lunch is June 18 at Queenston Heights Restaurant. Save the date and keep an eye on the Website for tickets.  We have room for everyone.

Wishing you all a very Happy Easter and Welcome to Spring!

Yours in friendship,
Megan Wood
President
NOTL Newcomers

The NOTL Newcomers Club is for women who live in the Ontario municipality of Niagara-on-the-Lake, which includes Old Town, Glendale, Queenston, St. Davids and Virgil. Our goal is to welcome women who are new to the town, and to help them meet one another and discover everything our unique town has to offer residents.

Membership is open to women who have recently moved to Niagara-on-the-Lake (NOTL) and also to women residents who have undergone a major change in their lives, such as retirement, and want to become more involved in local life.

As a social club our goal is to help women who are new to the Niagara-on-the-Lake area, or who have had a significant life change to make new friends and participate in fun social activities.  Let's all hope that we will be able to have a busy year full of fun, social engagements and join a new interest group or participate in a new activity where we meet new people.
